As farmers we are on the front-line of every natural disaster. From 2017-2022, we have witnessed a series of major catastrophes affecting us every year from droughts to excess rains exceeding 200% and cyclones, with an increased frequency from once in a decade to being an annual occurrence. This is isn’t a marketing statement on defining our sustainability index or our alignment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This is us being resilient and responsible towards sustaining food production and global food security. Banana Circles encompasses 5 SDGs within our value chain.

Zero Hunger

From being growers and distributors of fresh produce, we have integrated ourselves towards value addition of our produce. We now supply natural functional foods that have higher nutrition and shelf life. We have covered every aspect of this particular goal from being sustainable with our farming to offering the highest nutritive foods onto your plates.

Climate Action

Soil Organic Matter (SOM) and Soil Organic Carbon (SOC) are at its lowest levels globally and soil health is our biggest problem to be tackled.
We have already begun solving this problem by adding mandatory protocols like soil testing, base-lining our current soil parameters, cover crops, diversifying cropping patterns, crop rotation, managing soil inputs with an increased focus on improving SOC levels that also translate to Carbon Sequestration through regenerative agriculture.

Partnerships for Goals

We aim to collaborate than reinvent the wheel as time is of the essence. We are combating climate change on a daily basis, and Banana Circles defines partnership for Goals.

Responsible Consumption and Production

Statistics show that post-harvest damage specifically for bananas are at 20%, and we have reduced this to less than 3% which is subsequently utilized within the farms as soil inputs. We have a circular economy at play, incentivising farmers to work on sustainable production models that follow regenerative agriculture models.

Life on Land

Our lands are on the fringe of the mighty Western Ghats, tagged as one of the 36 Biodiversity hotspots on Planet Earth. This mighty mountain range brings one of the most valuable resource for us – WATER. Our existence depends on this bio diverse ecosystem. For generations the people have strived to protect this ecosystem, coexisting with nature and sustaining all forms of life and halting biodiversity loss.
